About Us
There was once a little girl who liked painting and drawing. When she was only 7 or 8 she also tried knitting, crocheting and simple loom forms.
The little girl had a grandfather, a well estimed chief executive director of a big and well known bank, who every day took care of serious adult matters – those matters which well estimed bank chief executive directors usually take care of.
One day the granpa retired. This was when he bought himself a sewing machine – a heavy, steel device in a huge case, and discovered an enormous passion and talent. He started sewing. He was sewing anything you could imagine – from bed sheets and table sets to proper clothes like trousers, blouses, skirts or even suits and woolen winter coats. He was sewing items for everyone in the family, his children and grandchildren, but mostly for granny and sometimes for the little girl too.
She liked the clothes grandpa made, but mostly, she liked all the little pieces of materials and fabric leftovers remaining after grandpa cut all parts. They were of all the colours of the rainbow, different structures or textures. With all these leftovers she started sewing little clothes for her dolls, first manually and later, under grandpa’s supervision she made her first steps in machine sewing.
Many years passed. The girl finished her primary school, then highschool, she graduated from university and started her first job, then another one and another as the time was passing.
Passion however is something deeply rooted, hidden, but alive forever and after many, many years from sewing doll clothes with leftovers. the big girl completed a professional sewing course and this time she, exactly like her grandpa once, bought herself a sewing machine and started sewing clothes and home accessories.
One day, inspired by internet photos she made her first drawstring bag. The next day she made a matching shopper bag and a pencil case, then a beauty case, makeup bag, key case, lunch bag, weekend bag, a set of garden poufs!
She started designing and creating new patterns and models, using different colour and motive combinations.
All family members and friends started receiving handmade gifts for their birthdays, anniversaries, for Christmas… It turned out that friends and family simply loved these items and would like to have more and more of them, and also to share them with their relatives and friends.
This is how, thanks to enormous passion with a dose of talent and creativity, the maggami handmade brand was born.
